6HEAD | Perth
Restaurant as Theatre: A Colonial Narrative on the Swan River.

The Challenge
Creating a distinct visual identity for 6HEAD’s second Australian flagship while anchoring it in Western Australian heritage.
The challenge was to translate the successful 6HEAD Sydney DNA into the Perth landscape without simply duplicating the aesthetic. We needed to create a high-stakes, premium dining environment that felt both globally elite and locally significant. The design had to solve a spatial transition—moving guests from the street into a "main stage" dining experience—while incorporating a complex historical narrative involving the First Fleet, the origins of the Australian cattle industry, and the maritime discovery of the Swan River.
Our Approach
Theatrical Storytelling & Behavioural Anticipation.
Our design for 6HEAD Perth is built on the Design for Behaviour™ principle of "Restaurant as Theatre," where the architecture serves as the set and the guests are the lead actors.
The Grand Proscenium: Instead of traditional walls, we utilised a massive, custom-printed curtain to envelop the space. This isn't just a partition; it theatrically frames the kitchen, transforming the culinary team into performers and the dining room into a stage.
Layered Narratives: The curtain artwork depicts a dreamscape of two histories: the arrival of the "Six Head" of Black Cape Cattle from South Africa, and Dutch explorer Willem de Vlamingh’s journey up the Swan River. By intertwining these with First Nations cultural themes and inverting some visuals, we created a sense of wonder that encourages guests to linger and explore.
The Ritual of Entry: We replaced traditional stairs with a gradual ramp. This "slow reveal" builds anticipation, physically elevating the guest as they transition into the high-energy dining arena.
Artisanal Totems: At the entrance, guests are greeted by six cow heads handmade from sisal and bark rope. These sculptures use traditional First Nations rope-making techniques, serving as tactile anchors for the restaurant’s namesake.
Operational Intelligence: The design was engineered for high performance. The choice of compostable hemp-based fabrics over traditional velvet and the use of locally manufactured materials reduced the project's carbon footprint while maintaining an ultra-premium finish.
"6HEAD Perth redefines the kitchen as theatre. The curtain is our proscenium, the ramp is our red carpet, and the guest is the main actor. Design here is about the transition from the everyday into the extraordinary."

"Art often asks a question, and design is the answer to the question."
Envirohacking Title
[Filler Text: Callie to provide specific Envirohacking narrative here. This section will detail how the design ‘hacks’ the environment using the theatrical curtain for acoustic dampening, the ramp for psychological state-shifting, and intelligent power systems to enhance the diner’s sensory comfort.]

Envirohacking Principle
[Filler Text: Callie to provide technical specifics here. This will include data-driven choices regarding the EDB intelligent power system, the Ecocanopy filtration efficiency, and the carbon-offset benefits of using hemp-based textiles over synthetic alternatives.]
